In 1961, the Corvette had evolved into a truly credible & formidable sports car. Styling was carefully updated under GM design chief Bill Mitchell with a subtle new grille design that eliminated the daunting classic teeth. The forward Headlight bezels were now color matched to the exterior. The new rear-end treatment foreshadowed the upcoming 1963 Sting Ray with a neat ducktail design incorporating four cylindrical taillights. In addition, the growing list of standard equipment now included a tachometer, sun visors, hidden below the body dual exhaust, carpeting, an electric clock, outside rear view mirror, and an aluminum radiator.
